No Iranian Pilgrims Harmed in Karbala Hotel Fire

IQNA – No Iranian pilgrims were harmed in a fire that broke out inside a hotel in the holy city of Karbala on Wednesday.

A fire broke out inside a hotel in the holy city of Karbala on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

 

The Iranian Red Crescent Society said  that based on field surveys and reports received from its volunteer medical staff at the clinics and headquarters in Karbala, none of the Iranian pilgrims were harmed in this incident.

“While expressing our regret over the hotel fire in Karbala and our sympathy for the non-Iranian victims, we would like to inform you that necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of Iranian pilgrims continue to be upheld vigorously,” it added.

The incident happened at the Shams Hotel on Al-Alaqmi Street, in the center of the holy city.

It is near the holy shrine of Hazrat Abba (AS).

Civil defense teams were dispatched to the fire site and contained it.
