Registration for the annual Eid al-Adha korban ritual has begun in Singapore, running from April 10 to May 31, The Straits Times reported on Thursday.
As part of this year’s initiative, a portion of donated sheep meat will be processed, canned, and distributed to Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring a humanitarian crisis as result of Israeli genocidal war.
Eid al-Adha, marking the Islamic act of sacrifice, includes the ritual slaughter of animals such as sheep, lambs, and cattle. The meat is then distributed to worshippers and those in need.
In 2025, 52 mosques across Singapore will facilitate overseas korban services, announced the SalamSG Korban sub-committee on April 10.

Due to logistical arrangements initiated in 2020 amid pandemic restrictions, livestock will be slaughtered in Australia. After being chilled and packaged, the meat will be shipped to Singapore and distributed to underserved groups, including zakat beneficiaries, families of imprisoned individuals, and migrant transient workers. Six mosques have been designated as local sites for the ritual, with details forthcoming from approved vendors.
In collaboration with experienced suppliers and humanitarian organizations in Jordan, SalamSG Korban has ensured the efficient delivery of canned meat to Gaza.
