20 Countries to Attend Int’l Quran Contest in Nigeria

IQNA – Nigeria plans to organize an international Holy Quran competition with the participation of Quran reciters from 20 countries.

According to a statement by Muhammad Bashir on behalf of the competition’s organizing committee, the event is organized by Majalisu Ahlil Quran International Quranic Competition.

It will bring together participants from across the globe.

The competition, spearheaded by former federal lawmaker Hon. Muhammad Adam Alkali, who represented Bassa/Jos North in Plateau State, is scheduled to be held in August 2025.

The event will begin in Jos, Plateau State, with the grand finale to be held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“At a recent preparatory meeting, Hon. Alkali expressed deep appreciation for the strong backing from the Centre for Islamic Studies at Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.

“He emphasized the competition’s aim to promote Islamic values and unity, reaffirming the Holy Quran as the guiding light for Muslims in pursuit of a meaningful life,” the statement said.

The chairman of the organizing committee, Gwani Sadiq Zamfara, also provided an update on preparations, assuring that all plans are on track to ensure a smooth and successful event.

Countries expected to participate include Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Chad, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritania, Niger, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
