Nigeria Nat’l Quran Contest Slated for December 20

IQNA – The national Quran recitation competition of Nigeria will be hosted by the Kebbi state this year.

It is scheduled for December 20–28, according to the organizers. 

A committee of eminent Islamic jurists, academics and government officials under the chairmanship of the Emir of Argungu Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, held a meeting earlier this week on preparations for the contest.

The emir reminded the members about the enormity of the task before them, calling for absolute dedication towards ensuring its success.

“I am thanking Governor Nasir Idris for appointing us to promote the Glorious Quran and religious tenets.

“We have a big task in front of us, we are thankful to God for affording us the opportunity to advance the cause of this  Islamic practice, bequeathed to Muslims by the Noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“We are prayerful to God to make the week for the recitation a blessing to Kebbi and entire Nigeria, May Allah the infinitely merciful drive away all challenges facing our nation” he added.

He informed the committee members that Kebbi would host people from different parts of the country, and must therefore discharge their assignment with the fear of God.

Kebbi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs Alhaji Muhammad Sani Aliyu is the deputy chairman of the committee, with the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Nasir Kigo, serving as secretary.
