Participation of 64 Countries in 7th Int’l Quran Contest for Muslim Students Confirmed

IQNA – Registration has been completed for representatives of 64 countries in the upcoming International Holy Quran Competition for Muslim Students, an official said.

Jalil Bayt Mash’ali, the head of the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Organization, said that following the approval received from the relevant bodies, the seventh edition of the contest will be held again after a seven-year hiatus.

He added that the preparations for the call for participants and invitations have been completed, and so far, the details of contestants from 64 countries have been registered in the competition, with all participants’ documents having been received.

The national selection round to choose Iran’s representative in the contest will take place next week, and the final round will be held in June, Bayt Mash’ali stated.

He went on to say that in addition to recitation of the Quran and memorization of the entire Holy Quran, this year’s competition will include a new category for Quranic technologies and innovative productions.

So far, 22 entries have been received in this new category, the official noted.

The Iranian Academics’ Quranic Organization, affiliated to the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), has organized the competition since 2006 with the aim of promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.

This year’s event comes following six successful editions of the competition, which hosted participants from over 85 countries and had a significant impact on Quranic and cultural engagement across the Islamic world.

The 6th edition took place in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, in April 2018.
