Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour made the remark in a meeting of representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states with President of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, held in Kazan on Thursday.
Imanipour said combating occupation and genocide against Palestinians, and contributing to the future multipolar world require Muslim cohesion.
He also said, “We aim to expand our studies on the emerging future world and invite collaboration from Muslim scholars and Islamic academic centers in various countries.”
He further referred to the selection of Kazan as the Cultural Capital of the Muslim World in 2025 and said it was the result of effective steps taken by the president of Russia and the political and religious leaders of Tatarstan.
Imanipour had traveled to Kazan to attend the 14th meeting of the OIC culture ministers held under the theme of “Cultural Dialogue as a Foundation for Maintaining Identity and Diversity in a Multipolar World.”
Minnikhanov welcomed the representatives of the OIC member states and hailed the theme of the conference.
He said culture forms the foundation of relations between nations and states, and preserving one’s religious identity while experiencing peaceful coexistence with other religions, sects, and ethnicities is among the cultural fundamentals of every country and its people.

He also lauded the development of ties between Russia and Muslim countries, hoping for the relations to deepen further.
