In a statement reported by Al Mayadeen, the prominent Moroccan cleric declared it an “obligation upon all Muslims” to support Iran in the face of repeated acts of aggression by the Israeli regime.

“Since the creation of the illegitimate Zionist entity, no country has shown more loyalty, sacrifice, and commitment to the Palestinian cause than the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Raissouni said. “Neither individual Arab or Islamic states nor their collective efforts can compare to what Iran has done for Palestine.”

Raissouni, a well-known Sunni scholar and successor to Yusuf al-Qaradawi at the helm of the global Islamic scholars' union, emphasized that defending Iran’s position is a religious and moral duty given its decades-long support for Palestinian resistance.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars, under both Qaradawi and Raissouni, has consistently maintained a firm stance on Palestine, opposing any normalization of relations with Israel and denouncing it as a betrayal of Muslim unity.

His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions Israeli strikes on Iranian soil, which prompted Tehran to launch Operation True Promise III in retaliation. The Israeli regime, backed by the United States, began a large-scale military attack targeting nuclear facilities, defense infrastructure, and residential buildings in Tehran and several other cities on Friday.

The Iranian response was launched just hours after a televised address by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in which he vowed that the “despicable” Israeli regime would be “rendered helpless” by the Islamic Republic’s retaliation.
