In these circumstances, “only through unwavering faith can we overcome hardships and achieve our ultimate goal,” Mehdi Gholamnejad said.
He was speaking to IQNA about the recent Israeli aggression on Iran and the Islamic Republic’s response to the aggression.
Gholamnejad said the illegitimate Israeli regime deeply feared the war reaching a stage of attrition, which is why it sought a face-saving exit from this quagmire.
“They assumed that with American intervention, they could intimidate Iran through a theatrical move and escape the crisis they had created while saving face.”
Highlighting the success of Iran’s Operation True Promise III and the performance of the Iranian armed forces alongside widespread public support, he said, “Given my deep understanding of our people and armed forces, I am certain they will not relent until the complete destruction of this usurping regime. Therefore, considering the current situation, the present time is the best opportunity to operationalize this grand objective, and—by the power of Allah—its realization in the near future is inevitable.”
The Quran reciter noted that the war has also brought hardships and sacrifices for Iran, saying, “In line with the teachings of the Quran, these difficulties must not weaken us. The martyrdom of some commanders, nuclear scientists, and innocent civilians may have disheartened some, but we must demonstrate resolute determination to achieve our ultimate goal: the annihilation of the Zionist regime.”

Gholamnejad, referencing the divine blessings bestowed upon Quranic activists, said, “One of the greatest blessings is companionship with the words of revelation (the Quran). The Quranic community must seize this opportunity to promote awareness by fostering closeness to the Quran. Personally, I have strived to reassure those who may have doubts by reciting hopeful verses of the Quran—verses that seem revealed for these very times and must be shared more than ever.”
He then cited Verse 139 of Surah Al-Imran, “Do not weaken or grieve, for you will be superior if you are true believers,” adding, “In this verse, the Almighty calls on believers to remain steadfast and hopeful, promising them victory—a promise contingent on maintaining faith. Thus, I believe that in these critical times, faith is the most crucial element in overcoming the enemy, and we must focus on it more than ever. The Quran is filled with such hopeful verses that our society must embrace deeply.”
Gholamnejad also referenced the story of the Bani Isra’il fleeing Pharaoh’s army: “Prophet Moses (AS) had promised his people victory. When they reached the sea, some doubted, asking why they were trapped despite God’s promise. It seemed like a test of faith until—at the last moment—the sea split by divine command, and miraculous aid arrived. We must narrate these Quranic events to remind people of divine intervention, strengthening their faith in Allah’s promises so that the ultimate goal is achieved.”

He further emphasized the Quran’s command to defend the oppressed. “A primary goal of this war is to support the defenseless and oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza—innocent people who have kept their faith under the harshest conditions. We will continue fighting until the complete destruction of the fake Zionist regime, for the sake of Gaza’s children and vulnerable.”
He also underlined the role of Quranic institutions, saying, “Quranic activities in these times must be practical and on-the-ground. All segments of society are present in this struggle, and the Quranic community must also play an active, impactful role. Cultural work is not limited to ideas or occasional programs; it requires real-world engagement.”
