Hojat-ol-Islam Hadi Elyasi, speaking at the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) in Qom on Tuesday, emphasized the spiritual and cultural impact of Arbaeen.
“We are on the eve of Arbaeen, which is unparalleled in the world in many ways.”
He considered the behavior of the lovers of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) in the Arbaeen procession to be based on love and said, “Today’s arrogant world, with its media power, is focused on materialistic matters, but a population of tens of millions from different countries gather in unity around each other in Karbala and serve each other without regard to their material interests.”
Pointing to the difficulties pilgrims face in the Arbaeen march, he stated that Arbaeen follows a Quranic blueprint, adding that building a divine civilization on Earth is difficult, and people must endure these hardships.
For establishing monotheism, there must be guides and leaders to show the path correctly, he stated.
God has introduced various prophets and the family of infallibility and purity to establish monotheism, and people should gather around these guides.
Hojat-ol-Islam Elyasi noted that love for divine figures, like prophets and Infallible Imams (AS), which is manifest in the Arbaeen pilgrimage, is a heavenly asset that draws hearts toward them.
These spiritual capitals are manifested in the Arbaeen ceremony because, despite all the difficulties of this path, millions of pilgrims take part in the Arbaeen procession, the cleric stated.

If Imam Mahdi (AS) appears, he can unite people through these spiritual capitals, he added.
Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.
It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims, as well as many Sunnis and followers of other religions, walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. This year, the day of Arbaeen will fall on August 14.
