Taghavi, a calligrapher, researcher and culture-and-arts ambassador at the Asia Cultural Coordination Centre, participated in the Iran-Korea calligraphy exhibition at the residence of Ambassador Kim Jun-pyo of the Republic of Korea in Tehran earlier this week. The event marked the 63rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Speaking to IQNA, she said that using the art of calligraphy she had drawn verses of the Quran and teachings of religions with the theme of family. The exhibition was held at the South Korean Ambassador’s residence under the theme “Family”.

Taghavi emphasized that calligraphy is a civilisational art form. “We can use the best words through the art of calligraphy… And this art is the language of civilisational dialogue among nations.”

She added that preserving this heritage and passing it on to future generations is a duty.

Featured Iranian and Korean artists working side by side, the event was hosted by the Korean Embassy in Tehran on 23 October and organised jointly with the Cultural Coordination Centre under the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (CCCACD).

Taghavi noted that the theme of “Family” served as a bridge between different beliefs and cultures.

She said that although religious beliefs differ between Iran and Korea, their civilisational roots share similarities. “In this exhibition calligraphy served as a tool for peace and friendship. It placed these differences side by side in a worthy way.”

She concluded by saying, “My wish as a soldier of my homeland is that through cultural activities we draw closer to the nations of the world. Cultural diplomacy is the foundation of political diplomacy.”
