The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Port Said International Quran competition, under the patronage of Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly and with full backing from Port Said Governor Mohab Habhi, announced that foreign contestants may now apply, Sada El-Balad reported on Saturday.
The event will be held this year in the name of the reciter Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna.
The committee stated that the competition aims to “support young Quranic talents from different countries and enhance Egypt’s status as a global center for the dissemination of moderate Islamic values, recitation and devotional singing.”
The contest includes full Quran memorisation, recitation, and Ibtihal.

Eligibility rules require contestants to be aged between 16 and 30, and each may enter only one category. Those who previously won an international position in this contest are excluded. The deadline for submitting applications is November 15.
Applicants must also send a three-minute audio clip in their chosen category to the competition’s email address, along with personal data: nationality, contest branch, name as in passport, birthdate and phone number.
All audio clips will be evaluated by a specialist committee. Accepted contestants will first pass an online elimination round, followed by the final selection to compete live in Port Said.
In the eighth edition held in early 2025, forty contestants from 33 countries competed.
