According to qafqn.org, the Quranic Sciences National Center affiliated to the Iraq's Shia Waqf (endowment) Office organized the competition to select representatives of the country for international Quran contests.
The first round of the competition was held in different cities, including for Qaris from Kirkuk Governorate and Tuz Khurmatu city of Tooz District in Saladin Governorate.
it started with recitation of some verses of Quran by Ali Al-Bayati, eminent Iraqi Qari and continued with speeches delivered by Sheikh Muhammad Abdulkhaliq, director of Kirkuk Endowments Office and Sabah Al-Saray, head of the competition’s jury.
Muhammad Abdulkarim Muhammad and Seif Muhammad Abdullah from Tuz Khurmatu were announced as the winners of this round in the region.
Sabah Al-Saray, Thair Al-Ka’bi, Ra’d Al-Fartousi and Tahsin Shukr respectively supervised the competition in Lahn, Tajweed, Sowt and Waqf and Ibtida.
