Sheikh Nadi Saad Jaber Muhammad, who is visually-impaired, came first in the category of Quran memorization for people with special needs.

He received his award from Jordan’s King Abdullah II and was also praised by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

After arriving in his hometown of Samasta in Egypt’s Beni Suef Governorate, Nadi Saad was honored at a ceremony held at the town’s main mosque.

The men section of Jordan’s 30th international Holy Quran competition wrapped up in Amman on Monday night.

At the closing ceremony, organizers handed awards to 37 Jordanians who had gained top ranks in the national section of the competition and also to nine individuals who won top places in the international section.

The Quranic event’s men section had been launched in the Arab country’s capital of Amman on April 11 with the participation of some 250 Quran memorizers from Jordan and other countries.

The women’s section had been held back in March.
