TEHRAN (IQNA) – Many verses of the Quran emphasize the importance of teaching children to say prayers.

For example, the Holy Book cites the prayers of Prophet Abraham (AS), two of which are for his children and posterity.

“Lord, make me and my offspring steadfast in prayer and accept our worship.” (Verse 40 of Surah Ibrahim)

But Prophet Abraham (AS) did not consider it enough to pray. In order to establish prayers, he did Hijrah (migration) and went through difficulties and adversities.

The Holy Quran underlines in Verse 132 of Surah Taha that establishing prayers is the responsibility of the one in charge in the family: “Instruct your family to pray and to be steadfast in their worship. We do not ask any sustenance from you; it is We who give you sustenance. Know that piety will have a happy end.”

This verse shows that the man is responsible for the ideological and religious destiny of his family and it is not enough to provide them with a livelihood.

Another point is that the first stage of training and educating children is in the family and that the issue of Salah in the family is of paramount importance and parents should insist on it.
