Iran Urges Islamic Parliament Speakers Meeting to Discuss Confronting Quran Desecrations

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s parliament speaker called for holding a meeting of his counterparts from Muslim countries to discuss how to confront desecration of Islamic sanctities.

Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf made the call in a meeting with Algerian parliament speaker in Tehran.

He said the virtual conference of speakers of all Islamic parliaments will be held to come up with practical solutions to put an end to all forms of desecration against Muslim sanctities, especially the Holy Quran which has been taking place in Europe these days.

In recent weeks, Islamophobic figures and groups in several European countries have repeatedly carried out Quran burnings and similar attempts to desecrate the Muslim holy book.

The acts of sacrilege in Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands have drawn outrage and condemnations from Muslim countries and the world.
