The police are investigating the shooting, which occurred in the parking lot of the Masjid Al Madinah Islamic Center on the 200 block of 69th Street, CBS News reported.
The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m., as about 150 people, mostly men, were attending the fifth and final prayer of the day at the mosque.
The worshippers heard the commotion and found out that someone had been shot. The condition of the victim is unknown.
Ziaur Rahman, a worshipper at the mosque, said that there had been hate crimes involving vandalism in the past, but that the people of Upper Darby had been very nice to the worshippers.
He said that the worshippers might need to be more careful and alert in the future, and report any suspicious activity.
