IQNA – A ceremony was held in Yemen to honor hundreds of boys and girls learning the Holy Quran.

The Schools Department in the Hudaidah Governorate organized the ceremony, Saba news website reported.

Some 500 school children who are Quran learners received presents and certificates at the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor of Hudaidah Mohammed Ayyash Qahim praised the efforts of Quran teachers and Quranic schools to promote the Quran and protect the younger generation against wrong beliefs spread by the enemies of Islam.

He also highlighted the lofty status of the Quran and called on local officials to support Quranic schools in the region.

A number of Muslim scholars and officials attended the ceremony, which included several cultural programs.

A separate ceremony was also held in Yemen to celebrate the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA), the beloved daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

It was organized by Yemen’s Higher Academy of the Holy Quran, where top female contenders in the country’s national Quran competition were honored.

Speakers at the event, stressed the need for following Hazrat Zahra (AS) as a role model, especially for women.
