The conference of “People of Faith and Issue of Gaza” was organized by the Research Institute for Islamic Culture and Thought in Tehran on Tuesday, with the participation of leaders and representatives of different faiths.

Head of the institute Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Akbar Rashad was the first speaker, saying what is happening in Gaza today is a global issue and one for humanity not the issue of a state or a land.

He also said that through its war on Gaza, the Israeli regime wanted to destroy Hamas but what actually happened was the revival of the issue of Palestine.

He referred to the growing support for Palestine and Gaza in the world, saying people in various countries are now raising the flag of Palestine and expressing support for its oppressed people.

Hojat-ol-Islam Rashad also said, “We support the defenseless and oppressed people, which is our human and religious duty”.

Next, the leader of the Iranian Jewish community, Younes Hamami, took the podium, saying that in all divine religions, after the belief in the one God, there is emphasis on human dignity.

He deplored the Israeli war on Gaza that has continued for over seven months and said in this war, divine and international laws are being violated by Israel and schools, hospitals, places of worship and other civilian centers are being targeted.

The goal of the Israeli war is more killing as many people as possible than destroying the other side’s facilities, he stated.

He said Israel does not represent the aspirations of the Jewish people and should not be considered as their representative.

Pedram Soroushpour, a Zoroastrian religious leader and Yobalit Aldo from the Assyrian Church of the East were among the other speakers at the event, who condemned the Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip and the West’s support for the Zionist atrocities.

The Israeli regime’s brutal war on the Gaza Strip that started on October 7 has killed nearly 35,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in the coastal enclave.
