IQNA – A Lebanese political expert described Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who was martyred in a recent helicopter crash, as the minister of the resistance axis and a true supporter of the Palestinian cause.

Lebanese political expert Muhammad Shams

Speaking to IQNA in an interview, Muhammad Shams, an expert in Iran’s affairs and editor-in-chief of a political analysis website in Lebanon, said liberation of the holy city of al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque was a major concern of the top diplomat.

Amir-Abdollahian was a true friend of Palestine and devoted to its cause, always speaking about it passionately, he said.

Shams highlighted the late Iranian foreign minister’s activities for strengthening the axis of resistance and said Amir-Abdollahian, and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a whole, insisted on supporting resistance despite having to pay dearly for it.

No pressures and costs, including unjust sanctions against Iran, dissuaded it from supporting the resistance front, he stated.

Thanks to Iran’s support, what is known today as the axis of resistance was formed, an axis that is standing against the US, the Israeli regime and their terrorist projects, he added.

The Lebanese expert also stressed the role of Amir-Abdollahian in enhancing trust and coordination among the countries that are members of the axis of resistance, saying he created a revolutionary spirit among these countries.

He cited the enhancement of ties with Arab countries, including those in the Persian Gulf region, as one of the accomplishments of Amir-Abdollahian in his capacity as the foreign minister of Iran.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024.

Their bodies were found a day later after an extensive night-long search operation.

Iran observed five days of national mourning with funeral processions for the victims held in multiple cities last week.
