Iran’s Quranic Community Commemorates President Raisi

IQNA – A memorial service was held in Tehran Wednesday night for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions who were martyred in a recent helicopter crash.

The Iranian Quranic community organized the commemoration ceremony at Al-Zahra (SA) religious center. 

It was attended by political, religious and Quranic figures, including Culture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili and Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hajabolqassem, an advisor to the president.

The ceremony began after the Maghrib (evening) prayers and included recitations of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent qaris like Hadi Movahed Amin, Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, and Ahmad Abolqassemi.

A Tawasheeh performance by the Muhammad Rasulallah group and recitation of supplications by Mehdi Samavati were also parts of the program.  

The speakers at the event highlighted the late Iranian president’s efforts to promote Quranic activities.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024.

Their bodies were found a day later after an extensive night-long search operation.

Iran observed five days of national mourning with funeral processions for the victims held in multiple cities last week.
