IQNA – Hailing late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi for his stances in support of Palestine, a Lebanese political analyst said one of the most outstanding moments he remembers was the president’s speech to people of Gaza.

In an article published by Al-Mayadeen, Hussein al-Batsh wrote that Raisi was one of Iran’s presidents who made the most efforts to defend Palestinians and the cause of Palestine.

He said Ayatollah Raisi missed no opportunity to decisively voice his firm stance in support of the Palestinian people’s rights and their resistance against the Zionist enemy.

His foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, also extensively defended the issue of Palestinian in his trips to different countries and meetings with leaders of the axis of resistance, al-Batsh said.

He referred to the speech President Raisi delivered via video-conference to a ceremony held in the Gaza Strip in April 2023 on the occasion of the International Quds Day as one of the outstanding stances of Raisi.

In this event, which was attended by thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, Ayatollah Raisi reiterated Iran’s unchanging stances regarding the support for the resistance of the Palestinian nation, he noted.

At the time, Israeli media described the speech as unprecedented, the Lebanese analyst stated.

He noted that it was the first time the president of a country directly addressed the people of Gaza, the Palestinian enclave that has been under a brutal siege since 2007.

The Iranian president was also involved in efforts to put an end to the Israeli aggression in Gaza after the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation launched by the resistance forces, al-Batsh went on to say.

He also highlighted Ayatollah Raisi’s support for other members of the axis of resistance, from Lebanon to Yemen to Iraq.

He concluded by saying that the loss of President Raisi is a major loss for Iran as well as Palestine and its supporters.

President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024.

Their bodies were found a day later after an extensive night-long search operation.

Iran observed five days of national mourning with funeral processions for the victims held in multiple cities in late May.
