Muscat Hosting Iran, Oman Armed Forces’ Quran Competition

IQNA – A Quran competition between the armed forces of Iran and Oman is underway in the Arab country’s capital of Muscat.

Quran memorizers from the armed forces of Iran and Oman are taking part in  Quran competition in Muscat.

 

This is the tenth edition of the competition. It began on June 3 and will conclude today, June 5.

The contenders compete in memorization of the Quran, at four levels: Memorization of the entre Quran, and memorization of 18, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Book.

There are four contestants from Iran and four from Oman in each category, according to Seyed Mehdi Gatmirian, head of the Iranian team sent to Oman.

The Iranian memorizers are from the Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Police, and Ministry of Defense, he stated.  

He noted that Iranian Quran experts Karim Dolati and Mutaz Aqaei are members of panel of arbiters.

He said the competition is aimed at bolstering the friendly ties between the armed forces of the two countries through Quranic activities and based on the Verse 103 of Surah Al Imran “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter.”
