There were four contestants from Iran and four from Oman in each category, according to Seyed Mehdi Gatmirian, head of the Iranian team sent to Oman.

He noted that Iranian Quran experts Karim Dolati and Mutaz Aqaei are members of the panel of arbiters.

He said the competition is aimed at bolstering the friendly ties between the armed forces of the two countries through Quranic activities and is based on Verse 103 of Surah Al Imran, “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter.”
