Fatalities, Injuries Reported as Palestinians Evacuate Khan Younis Under Israeli Shelling

IQNA – Several displaced Palestinians were reported killed and injured on Monday night amid Israeli shelling following orders from the occupation to evacuate the eastern regions of Khan Younis.

Local sources, as cited by the Palestinian official news agency Wafa, indicated that the Israeli military engaged in heavy artillery fire in the eastern areas of Khan Younis. This military action compelled the Palestinians to abandon their homes amidst the ongoing shelling and explicit threats.

Consequently, the Israeli military directed thousands of Palestinians, who had been seeking shelter in tents near the Gaza European Hospital in eastern Khan Younis, to vacate the area amidst the aggression.

The Health Ministry in Gaza has not yet released an official tally of the casualties resulting from the shelling.

The Israeli military operations continued unabated across the Gaza Strip, with Wafa reporting intense shelling targeting the Shuja'iya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City and the Nuseirat refugee camp situated in central Gaza.

Late on Monday, medical sources informed Anadolu Agency that several patients and wounded individuals were transferred from the Gaza European Hospital to Nasser Hospital, located in central Khan Younis.

The hospital's technical staff also relocated certain medical devices and equipment, anticipating potential damage in the event of an Israeli military incursion into the hospital premises.

On the same day, the Israeli military issued an evacuation directive to the residents of eastern Khan Younis, labeling the area a "dangerous combat zone." The inhabitants were instructed to move towards designated humanitarian zones in the city's western sector, specifically the Al-Mawasi area.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its offensive operations in Gaza, which began following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, 2023.

The Israeli war has killed at least 37,925 Palestinian deaths, predominantly women and children, and injured approximately 87,141 others, as reported by local health officials.

The war has left extensive areas of Gaza devastated, with a severe blockade impacting the availability of food, clean water, and medical supplies.
