Winners Awarded as First BRICS Holy Quran Prize Concludes in Kazan

IQNA – The closing ceremony of the inaugural BRICS Holy Quran Prize took place in Kazan on Friday as winners of the competition were awarded.

 

Contenders from 22 countries, including BRICS members, took part in the competition which had started on Wednesday.

First place was awarded to Mohamed Samir Mohamed from Bahrain.

The second place went to Mohamed Abdelkarim Kamil Attiyah from Egypt, who memorized the Quran despite being born blind.

Omid Hosseininejad from Iran secured third place.

The event was organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the Council of Muftis of Russia, and the Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (UAE), with support from the Republic of Tatarstan.

An authoritative panel of arbiters, comprising renowned Quran experts from Russia, Yemen, Bangladesh, Iran, and Egypt, evaluated the performances based on Tajweed rules and the beauty of recitation.
