IQNA – Saudi Arabia has outlined six essential items that Muslims, both domestic and international, should have to perform Umrah, the minor pilgrimage in Mecca.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah advised that pilgrims should prepare for their journey by ensuring they have the necessary data-x-items in their briefcase to facilitate the Umrah rites. These essentials include an ID or passport, emergency contacts, a mobile charger, a prayer booklet, a sum of money appropriate for the pilgrim’s needs, and a map of Mecca and Medina, Saudi media outlets reported on Tuesday.

Umrah, which can be performed year-round, takes place in the Grand Mosque, Islam’s most sacred site in Mecca.

Following Umrah, many Muslims visit Medina to pray in the Prophet Mohammed’s Mosque, the second holiest site in Islam.

The new Umrah season began in Saudi Arabia last month, following the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which was attended by approximately 1.8 million Muslims from around the world.
