IQNA – A campaign titled “Ambassador of Verses” will aim to promote the Holy Quran among pilgrims who attend the Arbaeen procession this year.

Quranic campaign in Arbaeen

Recognizing the significant potential of Arbaeen to spread and promote the Quran, a group of Quranic activists in the country have decided to launch the "Ambassador of Verses" campaign, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Jafar Dezfoulian, secretary of the campaign, told IQNA on Wednesday.

Ambassadors will interact with pilgrims, discussing selected verses and organizing Quranic gatherings, especially during the call to prayer, he said.

Ambassadors will distribute sheets with chosen verses, encouraging pilgrims to reflect on them during their journey, he added.

“This initiative aims to illuminate the sacred path of Arbaeen with the light of the Quran,” he added.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS). This year’s Arbaeen is expected to fall on August 25, depending on the moonsighting.

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites. The pilgrims, mainly from Iraq and Iran, travel long routes on foot to the holy city.
