Over 125,000 Sign Up for Iran’s Basij Quran Competition

IQNA – The number of those signing up for participation in the 31st edition of the Quran competition for Iran’s Basij forces has surpassed 125,000.

Registration for this year’s competition in men and women’s sections began in late July and will continue until September 10.

The provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, Fars, and Kerman have the largest number of applicants, according to the Dar-ol-Quran Center of Basij, which annually organizes the Quranic event.

After the conclusion of the registration process, the first round will be held across the country at the mosques and Basij bases level.

Then there will be the city, provincial, semifinal and final rounds.  

According to the plans, the top contenders in the first four rounds will compete in the finals, slated to be held during the Basij week in November.

Basij is a paramilitary volunteer force established in 1979 on the order of Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
