According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments, the 26th edition of the national Quran competition commenced on Monday, September 9, as part of Quran Week.
The preliminary round will be held from September 9 to 11 via video conference, with the judging panel located at the ministry's headquarters.
The competition features 225 participants from all provinces of the country, competing in six categories.
Ultimately, 10 contestants from each category will be selected to advance to the final round, which will take place at the end of the month.

Participants compete in the fields of Quran memorization, Tajweed recitation, and Quran interpretation.
The top performers will represent Algeria in the international Quran competitions.
Last year, 133 participants from various Algerian provinces competed virtually.
