Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the statement while addressing a host of people from Shiraz on Wednesday.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described the events in the region and the steadfastness and struggle of the resistance as forces that have shaped the destiny and history of the area.
He emphasized that despite the killing of more than 50,000 innocent people, the Israeli regime has “failed to destroy the resistance.”
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the current events in the region, including the situations in Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank, as “historic.”
“If individuals like martyr Sinwar, who fought until the very end, had not emerged, or if great figures like the martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who combined jihad, wisdom, courage, and sacrifice, had not stepped forward, the fate of the region would have been different," he said.

The Leader noted that the outcome of the current regional events represents not only a “major defeat” for the Israeli regime but also for Western civilization and culture.
"The Zionists thought they could easily eliminate the resistance groups, but today, despite killing more than 50,000 defenseless civilians and several prominent resistance leaders, and despite the enormous costs and support from the U.S., as well as the worldwide disgrace and hatred they have incurred—leading even to protests in American universities against the criminals—the resistance front and young fighters in Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and other resistance groups continue to fight with the same determination and strength. This is a major defeat for the Zionist regime."
He also said the “greater defeat” belongs to Western culture and civilization, explaining: "The massacre of 10,000 innocent children with two-ton bombs and various weapons, while Western politicians didn’t even bat an eye, has exposed the hypocrisy of these so-called human rights defenders and revealed the illegitimacy of Western civilization to the entire world. This is their greatest defeat."
