The delegation included member of Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi, President of the University of Religions and Denominations Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abol Hassan Navvab and member of the Qom Islamic Seminary’s Instructors Society Ayatollah Abol Qassem Alidoust.
They visited a number of temples and pilgrimage sites belonging to different religions, including a Sikh temple.
At the interfaith forum, attended by leaders of different faiths, including Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Zoroastrian, and Sikhism, speakers emphasized the need for interfaith dialogue and interaction to reach mutual understanding and promote peaceful coexistence among followers of different faiths.
Later, the Iranian delegation participated in a meeting with Sunni scholars in which they discussed way to boost unity and proximity among Islamic schools of thought.
They then toured a Sikh temple in New Delhi, welcomed by a number of Sikh leader.
During the visit, Hojat-ol-Islam Navvab referred to the historical friendly ties between Iran and India, especially with followers of Sikhism and noted that there is a department of Sikh studies at the University of Religions and Denominations.

Sing Chanduh, a Sikh activist, also highlighted the longstanding relations between the two countries and said that given their shared religious beliefs, Sikhs have always had very friendly ties with Muslims, especially Shias.
