Sheikh Adam Nishan, a regular worshipper at Furgan Mosque, shared details of the damage on Facebook, noting that mushafs had been thrown on the floor, electrical outlets and adapters at the Imam's minbar were damaged, and taps in the ablution area had been broken.
Other data-x-items in the mosque were also reportedly vandalized, The Edition reported on Sunday.
Nishan stated that the police had been informed, and forensic officers visited the site to investigate.
A representative from the Police Media Office confirmed receiving a report of the vandalism early in the morning and stated that an investigation is underway.
Sheikh Nishan alleged that the damage might have been caused by a youth who often sleeps in the mosque and whom he described as mentally unstable.

He also raised concerns about the effectiveness of the 24/7 CCTV surveillance reportedly maintained by Malé City Council, questioning why such incidents continue to occur despite the cameras.
According to Nishan, the mosque has been subjected to similar acts of vandalism in the past, and reports had been filed with the police, but the issue persists.
