Qatari Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem, honored the top five winners in three categories (citizens, special memorizers, general memorizers) of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran Competition at a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Qatari media outlets reported on Thursday.
Malallah Abdulrahman Al Jaber, head of the organizing committee, highlighted the competition's origins in 1993 and its dedication to promoting the Quran.
The competition, according to organizers, aims to encourage memorization, recitation, and interpretation, and fostering a spirit of competition among participants.
This year, significant changes were made to the competition's structure, including separate committees for male and female participants and increased rewards for outstanding participants. The total prize money exceeded four million Qatari riyals.

Additionally, a new school branch, "Ratil," was introduced for high school students, aiming to instill a love for the Quran and reinforce ethical values.
More than 800 male and female contestants took part in the competition.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Qatari minister said that the contest "sends a message to the youth of this nation confirming that embracing Quran brings health to the body, abundance in livelihood, light on the path and development of the abilities."
