UK Int’l Quran Competition Winners Awarded

IQNA – A ceremony was held in Britain to announce and award the winners of an international Quran competition.

The Habib ul-Quraan competition in the UK

 

The Habib ul-Quran contest was organized in Batley a town in West Yorkshire, England, from October 31 to November 3.

The contenders from different countries such as the UK, Spain, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Morocco and Algeria, competed in person and online in several categories, including memorization (different levels), recitation, seven styles of recitation.

In memorization of the entire Quran, Ilyas Mulla from the host country bagged the top prize.

The top winner in seven styles of recitation was Bukhari Sanusi Idris from Nigeria.

And in the category of recitation, Egyptian Ahmed al-Sayyid al-Qaytani came first.

Al-Qaytani, 23, said he was very happy to finish the top winner and make his country proud.

He noted that he has won prizes in other international Quranic events including those in Iran, Egypt, and Qatar.

He said he started memorizing the Quran at five and later learned recitation of the Holy Book.

Al-Qaytani’s father is also a Quran memorizer and works at Egypt’s Quran Radio.
