IQNA – Quran competitions encourage increased reflection and action upon Quranic teachings, says an Iranian official.

In a speech at the opening ceremony of the knowledge and teachings section of Iran’s 47th National Quran Competition in Qom on Saturday, Hojat-ol-Islam Gholamreza Adel, the Cultural Deputy of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, emphasized the transformative role of Quranic reflection in achieving personal and societal prosperity.

Participants will answer to questions about Quranic teachings, Nahj al-Balagha, Sahifa Sajjadiya. The event also features an international division for students from Al-Mustafa International University.

Addressing attendees, Hojat-ol-Islam Adel said, "The Holy Prophet (PBUH) stated, ‘If you desire a prosperous life, to be counted among the martyrs, and to find salvation on the Day of Judgment, turn to the Quran.’ While material well-being is important and permissible for believers, true prosperity lies in using worldly comforts as a foundation for eternal success."

Highlighting the necessity of engaging deeply with the Quran, he added, “All Muslims should reflect on the verses of the Quran, act upon them, and avoid neglect or complacency.”

“Seeking refuge in the Quran is the path to overcoming life's hardships. However, this engagement must go beyond mere recitation; the Quran should be read as a guide for practical implementation and daily connection.”

Discussing the significance of Quranic engagement, Adel outlined three principles mentioned by the Prophet (PBUH): "The Quran is the word of the Merciful, a source of merit on the Day of Judgment, and a shield against Satan's whispers."

Pointing to the role of Iran's educational institutions in promoting Quranic culture, he said that the University of Quranic Studies and Sciences, with over 18 faculties and 5,000 students, exemplifies advancements in fostering an understanding of pure Quranic concepts.
