Sponsored by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, the competition is set to conclude on December 23, 2024, Shahdnow news website reported.
The event was held in collaboration with the Muslim Commission of Nepal and under the supervision of the Saudi Embassy in Kathmandu.
The competition attracted over 750 participants, including both male and female students from various schools and Islamic centers across Nepal.
Participants competed in four categories, showcasing their memorization and recitation skills. According to the report, the event is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to promote the teachings of the Holy Quran among young Muslims worldwide.

The inaugural competition, held earlier in 2024, saw 350 male and female Quran memorizers compete in separate sections. Eighteen contestants were named as winners and received awards at the ceremony.
Nepal, a landlocked country in South Asia, has a Muslim minority comprising about 5 percent of its population. Despite being a minority, Islam has become the fastest-growing religion in the country, now ranking as the second-largest faith by number of followers.
