Organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Tanzania, the event drew participants from 25 countries.
Some 60,000 people attended the closing event, which was held on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium (Benjamin Mkapa Stadium).
Sponsored by Saudi authorities, the competition featured two age-based categories, both centered on the complete memorization of the Holy Quran.
In the adult division, first place was awarded to Mohammed Amin Hassan from the United States, with Islam Ali Shalouf from Libya securing second place and Malik bin Abdulaziz Al-Rubaie from Saudi Arabia finishing third.

In the youth category, Mohammed Yassin from Algeria claimed first place, followed by Youssef Yassin from Uganda in second. Eight-year-old Zaid Al-Baqali from Morocco, the youngest participant to have memorized the entire Quran, secured third place.
The awards were presented by Sheikh Dr. Awad Al-Anazi, Undersecretary of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, in the presence of Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Saudi Ambassador to Tanzania Yahya Akish, ambassadors from Gulf, Arab, and Islamic nations, and senior officials.
Tanzanian officials addressed the audience, acknowledging international engagement in the event and highlighting cooperation in religious and cultural initiatives.
