Hezbollah warned that foreign powers are trying to reshape Lebanon politically, culturally and socially.
It also expressed the movement’s readiness to implement reforms without taking away the responsibility of the government to the people, especially on reconstruction of the country.
In the same context, Ali Fayyad, a representative of the parliamentary faction loyal to the resistance, stated that what Lebanon is facing is beyond the issue of the resistance’s weapon.
He warned that an external attempt is underway to change the political, cultural and social structure and impose a new situation.
Addressing a ceremony held to honor the martyrs of resistance, he said the Americans and others interfere in political decision-making, from Beirut’s port security to financial and economic reforms, and it is this international stance that has prevented nearly two million Syrian refugees from returning to their homes while the situation in Syria has stabilized.
Fayyad stressed Hezbollah’s readiness to improve the financial and economic situation, support depositors and rebuild institutions.
“We have never had any benefits in the banking and financial system and therefore we have no concerns in this regard,” he stated.
Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the Lebanese parliament, also stressed that any internal dialogue must begin with an end to the Israeli aggression, withdrawal of Israeli regime forces from Lebanon, release of prisoners and reconstruction as a national priority and central issue.
He stressed that resistance is still Hezbollah’s preferred option.
He added that the US-led provocative movements against the resistance have repercussions inside Lebanon and are welcomed by those who have always opposed resistance against the Zionist regime, but all of these are within the framework of a psychological war against the resistance.
On the reconstruction issue, Fadlallah said, “So far, we have completed 80 percent of the shelter construction and repair projects, but this does not relieve the government of responsibility, especially for the destroyed buildings and infrastructure.”
