IQNA – An Israeli aggression on a suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, was launched with the US support, the secretary general of Hezbollah said.

Sheikh Naim Qassem

In a speech on Monday, Sheikh Naim Qassem said the US has interests in Lebanon and must realize that these interested will not be achieved without stability in the country.

He said while there has been no ceasefire violation by the resistance movement, the Israeli regime has breached the ceasefire more than 3,000 times so far.

He warned that the Zionist regime seeks to gain dominance over entire Lebanon and weaken it and the US supports these goals.

Hezbollah has remained committed to the ceasefire between the Lebanese government and the Zionist regime and has facilitated the government’s mission to deploy forces to the south, he said, stressing that the government is responsible for pursing the implementation of the ceasefire deal by exerting pressure on the guarantor states.

Referring to the priorities that the Lebanese nation and government should pursue, Sheikh Qassem said the first priority is putting an end to the Israeli aggression, forcing it to withdraw from southern Lebanon and secure the release of those taken hostage by Israel.

The second priority should be the reconstruction of the areas that have been destroyed in the enemy’s attacks, he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Hezbollah leader lauded the steadfastness of the people of the Gaza Strip, saying their epic resistance has prevented the Israeli enemy from achieving its goals.

This resistance and steadfastness are the prelude to victory, Sheikh Qassem went on to say.

Israel carried out an airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburb on Sunday, after ordering an evacuation of a building in Hadath neighborhood.

Following significant losses sustained over nearly 14 months of conflict and the failure to meet its objectives in the offensive against Lebanon, Israel was compelled to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah. This ceasefire took effect on November 27.

Since the commencement of the agreement, the occupying forces have been launching assaults on Lebanon, breaching the ceasefire, which includes airstrikes throughout the Arab nation.
