Mohammad Tokhi Mirzajani, head of the Secretariat for Inviting and Dispatching Qaris, told IQNA that this year, as in previous years, the Noor Convoy consisting of 20 people, including masters, qaris, memorizers and a Tawasheeh group, will be sent to the pilgrimage.

“The introduction of this mission was the holding of explanatory and educational courses, during which the members of the convoy were informed for two days about the requirements of this journey and the Quranic mission, see all the necessary instructions and some explanatory points in various areas such as technical, medical, as well as points about the rituals of the pilgrimage.”

Noting that he Noor Convoy has been dispatched to the land of revelation more than 40 times so far, he said, for more than four decades, this precious tradition has been maintained.

“We make a list of the best in the Quranic fields every year for this journey. The main criterion of this selection is the Hajj test and those with the best performance are selected for this spiritual journey, while a number of distinguished qaris are also present in the mix to enhance the technical dimension of the work.”

Mirzajani said that the selection of the convoy's Tawasheeh group, as well as the memorizers is done after necessary preparations and the best of them, who have won the top ranks in various competitions, are selected to accompany the other members of the convoy.

“For several years now, we have been following a policy in the dispatch committee that most of the individuals in this convoy should be first-time pilgrims who are Quran reciters and active in Quranic activities. This approach aims to give young people the opportunity to carry out their Quranic mission on this spiritual journey with greater motivation and enthusiasm.”

He added that experienced reciters are also included.

“This year, 75% of the convoy’s members are first-time pilgrims, while the remaining 25% have at least once previously performed the Hajj pilgrimage. We witness a combination of the youthful energy of first-timers and the experience of veteran reciters, ensuring that alongside passion and excitement, the technical standards are also maintained. After all, the demand and expectation for holding Quranic gatherings during this journey are higher than ever from the experienced members.”

Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the Mecca for the annual Hajj.

Iran also sends pilgrims as well as a groups of Quran activists, known as the Noor Quranic Convoy for Hajj.

The members of the delegation hold Quranic programs, including Quran recitation sessions, for the pilgrims in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
