IQNA – Supporters of Palestine held a massive demonstration in London on Saturday, marking the 77th anniversary of Nakba.

A massive pro-Palestine rally was in London on Saturday, May 19, 2025, marking the 77th anniversary of Nakba.

Nakba (catastrophe) is a reference to the 1948 forced expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homeland as Israel proclaimed its illegal existence.

Nearly half a million people took part in the demonstration that began outside Embankment Tube Station in central London, al-Arabi al-Jadid reported.

It was organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in cooperation with a number of other pro-Palestine groups and organization.

The demonstrators marched toward Dawning Street, chanting slogans in condemnation of the British government’s support for the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians.

They called on the UK government to take action to end the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their land.

They emphasized that Nakba is not just a remembrance but it is an ongoing tragedy resulting from the occupation of Palestine.

The demonstrators also called for an end to the Israeli regime’s aggression on the Gaza Strip and stressed the need for parliamentary investigations into the use of British weapons in Gaza war crimes.

On Saturday, similar rallies against the war on Gaza were held in other European cities, including Berlin and Stuttgart in Germany and Copenhagen in Denmark.

Israel waged its genocidal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, but it has failed to achieve its declared objectives despite killing 53,010 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring more than 119,998 others.

The usurping entity accepted longstanding negotiation terms by the Hamas resistance group under a Gaza ceasefire, which began on January 19.

On March 18, however, Israel unilaterally broke the truce and resumed its relentless bombing of Gaza.
