In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmakers reiterated their support for the IRGC.
They denounced the move by more than 550 members of the British House of Commons and House of Lords to demand the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
The Iranian MPs said the move, made at the order of the criminal Zionist regime and suggested by the hated MKO terrorist group, lacks any legal basis and political legitimacy.
They said it shows the continuation of the British government’s colonialist and interventionist policies.
The statement highlighted a litany of the UK’s interferences and crimes against the Iranian nation, including involvement in the 1953 coup in Iran and the support for the regime of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in the aggression on Iran during the 1980s.
It underlined that the IRGC is an official and legal institution that safeguards Iran’s independence and territorial integrity based on the Constitution and under the command of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Any move to blacklist this institution would be a violation of the UN Charter and a clear violation of Iran’s national sovereignty and a breach of international laws, the lawmakers stated, vowing Iran’s legal and reciprocal response to any such move.
The IRGC was formed on the order of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in a bid to protect the ideals of the Revolution and battle insecurity in the country.
The elite military force, which is a branch of Iran’s Armed Forces, played a major role in defending the country during the 1980-88 Iraq-imposed war.
