IQNA – Muslim scholars have recently launched a project on social networks titled “Lessons from the Quran”, aimed at promoting the understanding of the Quran’s concepts in a way that aligns with the digital age and technology.

Holy Quran

It was launched on YouTube and Telegram platforms more than six months ago with the motto “Quran Has Not Been Read Yet”.

It aims to revive the culture of contemplating the Holy Quran and understanding its concepts with a new method that suits the digital age.

The content of the channel on YouTube and Telegram is viewed daily by 3,000 users.

The project leaders say that although the Quran is a central element in Muslim life, interaction with it has often been limited to recitation and memorization, and the many commentaries (over 280 commentaries) available have confused readers rather than bringing them closer to a deeper understanding.

They say most commentaries have focused on the rhetorical features at the cost of losing the spirit of interpretation and reflection on the teachings of the Holy Book.

The goal of this project is to transform the Quran from a text meant solely for recitation into a text for reflection, understanding, and practical application of its verses in daily life, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Quran through an extensive interpretation of its verses.

Another objective is to connect Muslims with the Word of God in a practical way that helps shape their thinking and behavior.

This is achieved by offering a daily page from the Quran that includes beautiful recitation, vocabulary explanations to simplify concepts, a summary of the overall meaning of the verse, excerpts from the most important classical and modern interpretations, explanations of the verse’s relationship to the preceding and following verses to understand the Quranic structure, and the extraction of practical and educational benefits from the verses.

“Lessons from the Quran” sets a two-year timeframe for users and participants to complete the program, during which they will learn to recite, understand, and contemplate the Quran.

By the end of this period, they will be able to gain a comprehensive insight into the meanings and concepts of the Quran by drawing on a variety of interpretive schools.

The principles and methodology governing the interpretation in this project focus on the core meanings of the Quran, deliberately avoiding theological and sectarian disputes as well as detailed jurisprudential issues, limiting explanations to general rulings and their wisdom.

The project leaders also emphasize the structure of the Quran to observe how the verses are interconnected as a unified whole.

It also provides a simple explanation of vocabulary, a concise interpretation of the verse, and a deeper exploration of its meanings based on the opinions of commentators, making it accessible to audiences at various levels.

By linking the verses to everyday life, offering a straightforward and contemporary interpretation in clear and engaging language, considering the reasons for revelation to understand the context and deeper meanings, and presenting a Quranic perspective for addressing modern issues, theoretical interpretation is combined with practical application.

This project stands out from traditional Quranic commentaries due to its unprecedented diversity of sources, drawing on over 30 interpretations from different schools of thought.

By delivering a digital interpretation suitable for the modern era in an easy and concise style, it blends tradition and modernity to connect the past with the present in a language everyone can understand, without limiting itself to the apparent text.

This Quranic initiative seeks to present the Quran as a way of life through exploring its references and profound meanings, rather than as a book to be read solely for blessings.
