A permanent exhibition featuring some of the rarest Quranic manuscripts and the largest copy of the Quran in the world is now open to the public at the Quran Museum in Mecca.

Located in the Hira Cultural District near Jabal al-Nour—where the first revelations of the Quran were received—the museum is attracting visitors from around the globe, amid the Hajj pilgrimage.

The museum, which opened during the last Ramadan, is operated by Samaya Company. The exhibition aims to provide an immersive educational journey through the history of the Quran, using a collection of ancient manuscripts and interactive displays.

Fawwaz bin Abdullah Al-Muharrij, CEO of Samaya Company, said the museum offers “a comprehensive overview of the methods of writing and preserving the Quran.” He added that it includes “the largest Quran in the world, showcased in a dedicated hall, alongside ancient copies that reflect the development of Quranic calligraphy over the centuries.”

The museum also features educational models, including a replica of the Cave of Hira, allowing visitors to visualize the setting where the Quran’s revelation began. Historical manuscripts are displayed in technologically equipped halls designed to enhance both cognitive and spiritual engagement.

One visitor, Abdul Basit, expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying the exhibits “help deepen visitors’ understanding of the significance of the Quran” and praised the museum’s role in reinforcing Islamic values.

Fahd Al-Sharif, director of the Hira Cultural District, said the museum “welcomes all visitors” and is intended to enrich the cultural and religious experience of those who come to Mecca.
