IQNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army plans to train more than 60,000 memorizers of the Holy Quran in six years, an official said.

Head of the Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department of the Army’s Ideo-Political Organization Colonel Mehdi Meydani speaking to IQNA.

Head of the Quran, Etrat and Prayers Department of the Army’s Ideo-Political Organization Colonel Mehdi Meydani told IQNA in an interview that one of the most important measures facing the Army is to train 63,000 memorizers of one Juz (part) to the entire Quran by 1410 (2031), “thereby fulfilling our contribution to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s directive to train 10 million memorizers.”

The process of Quran memorization in the Army progresses step by step and stage by stage, and with the success they achieve in memorizing various parts of the Quran, planning is also made for them to memorize more parts of the Holy Book, he stated.

Asked about Quranic activities for the families of the Army personnel, he said the 25th edition of the Quran competition for the Army’s female staff and the wives and children of Army personnel will be held this year.

What is certain is that there is a need to also address families in the field of Quranic activities, Colonel Meydani said. “This has been pursued for years and this year we are witnessing the holding of the 25th Quran competition for female staff and families and children of Army personnel.”

He further referred to ties with Quran-based institutions, saying it is “one of our other goals in the Army, and for example, I can point to the favorable cooperation with Quranic institutions like the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, to the point that 200 experts from this organization with first to third-degree certificates have been recruited and have collaborated with us in various Quranic fields, such as judging Quran competitions.”

The Army has also held a Quranic program called ‘Bayt al-Nur” (House of Light) for the past few years, he went on to say.

“Its main goal is to hold (Quranic programs) in the homes of Army personnel and their family members. Usually, Quran gatherings are attended by a large and significant number of Quran lovers, but in implementing this plan, we have assumed that each Army family, assuming a minimum number of people, can hold a home Quran meeting.”
