IQNA – The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s colonial plan called “Greater Israel”.

In a statement, the IUMS considered this plan an illegal and immoral occupation project in every sense of the word, stressing that it violates all international norms and conventions, Arabi21 reported.

It said the plan reflects the arrogance of the occupiers, their continued aggression against the holy land and sites of Palestine, and their intention to continue the expansion of settlements, the Judaization of Jerusalem al-Quds, and the displacement of the Palestinian people, all of which are carried out within the framework of a systematic policy of killing, starvation, and genocide.

The statement emphasized that Israeli regime prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks about the so-called “Greater Israel” indicate a dangerous colonial project that targets the entire Islamic Ummah.

It said Gaza today serves as a shield for the Islamic Ummah, bearing the burden of the confrontation and paying its price on behalf of Muslims.

The repeated silence of Arabs and Muslims, and even cooperation with the occupiers, has encouraged the Zionists to continue their aggression in the war against Gaza, leaving the Palestinian people alone in the face of their machine of killing and destruction, it deplored.

The IUMS called on the leaders of the Islamic Ummah to overcome their differences and achieve sincere unity to protect themselves. It called on scholars and thinkers to awaken the Islamic spirit with honest words and bold positions.

The statement also called on Islamic nations to fulfill their duty of material and spiritual support for Palestine and called on the international community to take immediate action before history records their complicity in the “crimes of the century”.

The statement also expressed the IUMS’s opposition to any normalization with the occupiers, considering it a direct support for their aggressive projects.

It emphasized that the solution lies in the unity of the Islamic Ummah, supporting the courageous Palestinian resistance, supporting it through all legitimate means, and severing all ties with the Zionist occupiers.

On Tuesday, Netanyahu said he feels a deep connection to “this vision” of a “Greater Israel,” referring to the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories as well as parts of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, and described it as “a historical and spiritual mission.”

His remarks have been met with strong reactions and widespread condemnation from Arab and Islamic countries.
