Egypt Quran Reciters’ Union Highlights New Talent Through National Competition

The contest is being held across Egypt and aims to identify promising voices in Quran memorization and recitation.

“We have discovered extraordinary talent in both memorization and beautiful recitation,” said Sheikh Mohamed Hashad, president of the association. “With the support of the Awqaf Ministry, we will continue to nurture and qualify them.”

Hashad praised Egypt’s Awqaf Ministry for its support of Quran reciters, pointing to its supervision of the Union’s elections. “This reflects the ministry’s recognition of the role of reciters in instilling Quranic values and meanings in youth and new generations, as part of the renewal of religious discourse,” he said.

According to Hashad, the goal of the competition is not only to find the best voices but also to strengthen Egypt’s long-standing tradition of Quran recitation, which has influenced generations across the Muslim world.

The Union, he added, welcomes all initiatives that promote the Quran and works to connect reciters with leading religious institutions.

He also commended the launch of the second round of the Day of Quran Recitation initiative under Al-Azhar’s supervision, describing it as an effort that “goes beyond recitation to spread the values of the Quran.”
