IQNA – Cooperation with individuals and institutions that are working to provide the conditions for marriage and family formation for young people is one of the clear examples of social cooperation.

The Quran orders Muslims to provide the conditions for marriage and family formation for young people.

The Holy Quran says: “Marry the single people among you and the righteous slaves and slave-girls. If you are poor, God will make you rich through His favor; He is Bountiful and All-knowing.” (Verse 32 of Surah An-Nur)

The Arabic word “Al-Ayami” in this verse is the plural of “aym” in the sense of someone who does not have a spouse, whether male or female, virgin or widow.

The expression “Ankihu al-Ayami” is an order to others in the field of facilitating the marriage of single people. Therefore, marriage is not something that can be done without the help and cooperation of others. Rather, others must strive and provide the basis for introduction, acquaintance, and preparations for marriage.

The best mediation is intercession and mediation in the matter of marriage. As stated in a Hadith: “Whoever makes another a bridegroom or a bride is in the shade of the Throne of Allah.”

Poverty should not be considered an obstacle to taking action in the matter of marriage; because Allah has promised to provide for the life of the bride and groom.

The talk of “God being bountiful” and “very generous” and the promise of “making people free from need in the light of God’s grace” shows that God has made proper marriage a means of expanding and blessing life: “If you are poor, God will make you rich through His favor; He is Bountiful and All-knowing.”

It is narrated from Imam Sadiq (AS): “He who does not marry out of fear of poverty, he has indeed suspected God’s mercy.”
