Yusuf’s brothers threw him into a well, then a group pulled him out, took him to Egypt and sold him as a slave. In Egypt an unfounded accusation was leveled against him and he was thrown into jail. After going through so much trouble and hardship, he became the ruler of Egypt. When he met his father after so many years, his father asked him what the brothers had done to him.
Yusuf (AS) said: Don’t ask me about what my brothers did but ask me about God’s favor and how He saved me through all those plots and adversities.
This is a very important point that one should not focus on negative points but should also pay attention to positive ones.
Imam Hassan Askari (AS) said there is no calamity in which God has not put a good thing and that good thing has dominance over that calamity.
