3,670 Vie to Represent Egypt in Port Said Int’l Quran Contest

IQNA – The preliminary stage of a competition for selection of Egypt’s representatives in the upcoming edition of Port Said international Quran contest concluded.

A total of 3,670 individuals took part in this round, competition in different categories like Quran memorization, beautiful recitation, and Tawasheeh and Ibtihal. 

Adil al-Musilihi, an official with the organizing committee, said the panel of judges will evaluate the recorded performances of the contenders in the preliminary round from November 1-20.

The panel comprises a number of senior Quran experts and qaris, including Abdul Karim Salih, Abdul Fattah Taruti, Hisam Saqar and Ahmed Abduh, he added.

He said that 450 contenders will qualify to compete in the second round, slated for November 21-23.

Those with the best performance will be named as Egypt’s representatives in the Port Said competition, he noted.

The 8th edition of the Port Said international Quran contest, named after renowned Egyptian qari late Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi, will be held in the northern port city in February 2025.
